16-21/06/2011 - photos

Participants: Tom Brennan, Rachel Grindlay, Rosemary McDonald, Mike Arnott, Colin Atkinson, Lucy Moore, David Bell, Jeannette Kendall, Renee Gruber, Aman Singh

  • Day 0-1 - we went on a tour of Katherine Gorge in the morning, and then some of us went for a walk to Baruwei Lookout while Ro and Mike did the big car shuffle to Edith Falls. The next day we caught a boat across the Katherine River, and walked up the Seventeen Mile Creek valley to the campsite at Biddlecombe Cascades.
  • Day 2-3 - the next day we had a short walk to Crystal Falls, where we spent the afternoon exploring the falls. Then we had another fairly short day to Seventeen Mile Falls where we walked down to the bottom of the falls.
  • Day 4-5 - a longer walk to Sandy Camp Pool via the picturesque Channels Waterholes. It was Rachel's birthday and Ro had managed to bring a cake intact from Katherine. The final day we headed to Edith Falls to reacquaint ourselves with civilisation. Rachel and I stayed on another three days in Darwin due to the volcanic ash cloud disrupting flights into Sydney

Rachel also has photos from this trip.
