Mansons Ladders

Mansons Ladders is the name given to the sets of chains on Carlon Head. The first set of footholds and pitons were installed by John (Jack) Manson and Len - either Len Scotland or Len Webb - of the Sydney Bush Walkers on the June Long Weekend in 1941.1)

The chains were reported as broken in February 1951, and bushwalkers advised to avoid Carlon Head.2)

The chains were replaced in or around June 19633), and likely again on the weekend of 26-27 August, 1972.4). They are likely to have been replaced or upgraded on at least a couple of other occasions.
