Arethusa Canyon

MGA539725 (Katoomba). Arethusa Canyon lies in Govetts Creek just above where it emerges into the Govett Gorge. It can be done from the east side with a climbing exit, or from the west side exiting via a long traverse under Carne Wall, or descend to Rodriguez Pass via Blackwall Glen. From the east side the creek is usually entered via a couple of abseils of up to 30m at MGA537721. One or more abseils in the canyon, up to 20m, and one more at the end if exiting via Carne Wall. Plenty of swimming. The climbing exit is on the right, just before the a final abseil, and is tricky and generally relies on fixed ropes.

Other South Grose Canyons

There are sections of canyon in Victoria Creek and Victoria Brook, as well as in some of the tributaries of Crayfish Creek and Hat Hill Creek. No details are given to allow people to explore for themselves.
