The next morning, we spotted some faint aboriginal hand stencils in a cave above our pass

The exit to the canyon
Rachel in the lovely rainforest gorge below the canyon
Back in a major creek
Rachel at the top of the pass, which went on for ever. It took us the best part of 3 hours to cover not much more than a kilometre, mostly due to a mix of vines that made slow going of every step
Great views, looking down our prospective canyon
The creek dropped into canyon very quickly - Rachel at the first little climb down
Despite having carried wetsuits, we don't put them on straight away...
...which is a mistake! When it starts to look like there could be quite a few more swims, we stop and rectify it
A short abseil - we possibly could have climbed down the log, but it was a greasy pole
Rachel hangin' out - Rachel has done better than me managing to get her pack on at the end of a very narrow section. I have had to push my pack across this pool.
Looking back from across the next pool - another narrow squeeze is awkward to manoeuvre our overnight packs through ...
Rachel smiling... or is that a grimace?
More contortions!
Almost through!
A short abseil, followed by another narrow squeeze which is blocked up by a log
Rachel emerging from a narrow swim

Bridging to avoid another narrow squeezy section down low
The canyon drops into another narrow slot via an abseil
Rachel in the canyon
Climbing down a small fall
The canyon finally opens out, before starting to narrow again lower down
Rachel on the third abseil of the lower section
Lovely abseil through a rock arch
This was a short jump into the pool - as in this picture, through the whole canyon, the water was crystal clear and absolutely stunning
Climbing down a hole, another little squeeze
The fifth abseil of the lower section, into a deep pool
Rachel abseiling off the floating log belay!
Starting to get very dark by now, this one was off the moving log belay instead
After a boulder scramble, the final abseil down to the main creek
