Day 3

The next morning, setting off with full packs up the creek

Rachel gets stuck in quicksand and needs Rich to pull her out!

We leave our overnight packs at a narrow overhang that we will use for camping, and take day packs up to the top of the pass. Our creeks of interest are the next two along the gorge

Canyon 4

Simon bridging down a drop high up in the first creek

Rich and Mel have managed to climb down this drop but the rest of us set up a short abseil

Rachel on the next abseil

Looking up the side branch of the creek, which is actually better than the main branch, though not particularly long

Downstream from the junction, Simon abseiling. The canyon is a bit intermittent at this point

The next drop, we mostly abseiled from the side, but scrambling down the creek is possible

Rachel on the second abseil after the junction

The third abseil, though Rich has also climbed down this

Simon jumping the last couple of metres below the abseil

Mel and Sue below the fourth abseil

Rachel on the fifth and final abseil

Rachel on the exposed bit of the pass (still fairly easy)

We find this interesting piece of art? In an overhang

"Canyon" 5

Rachel abseiling into the next creek - it looks sort of promising, but turns out to be a dud

Rachel has picked up a hitchhiker along the way (Blue Mountains Tree Frog, Litoria citropa)

Our campsite for the night, a shallow overhang. There would have been a better campsite on flats at the point, but the forecast was for rain (which didn't eventuate)
