====== Mansons Ladders ====== Mansons Ladders is the name given to the sets of chains on [[Carlon Head]]. The first set of footholds and pitons were installed by John (Jack) Manson and Len - either Len Scotland or Len Webb - of the Sydney Bush Walkers on the June Long Weekend in 1941.(("Piton", 'Down Mansons Ladders', //The Sydney Bushwalker//, No. 80, August 1941, pp. 6-7)) The chains were reported as broken in February 1951, and bushwalkers advised to avoid Carlon Head.(('25 Years Ago', //Newsletter of the Bushwalkers of New South Wales//, Volume 1, No. 3, 1976, p. 5)) The chains were replaced in or around June 1963(('June Federation Report', //The Sydney Bushwalker//, No. 343, July 1963, p. 18)), and likely again on the weekend of 26-27 August, 1972.((Ray Hookway, 'Federation Notes - May, 1972", //The Sydney Bushwalker//, June 1972, p. 13)). They are likely to have been replaced or upgraded on at least a couple of other occasions.
